PRIME MINISTER
PRESS OFFICE
November 16, 2010

Thank you very much. I will be brief. First of all, this Council has very specific results and resolutions. We have repeated the importance of building a sound financial system, which gives priority to growth, to jobs, to social justice. And these are clear messages towards the G20 and the need for global governance, global economic governance.

And of course it is very important that we are saying this here in Paris, as France will be heading the G20 the next year. And Ero, thank you and the Commission for your work and your proposals that we have adopted.

Secondly, we have prepared an appeal ahead of the Cancun summit, the L’Appel de Paris, showing that we are again here in the forefront on the issue of sustainable world development, a sustainable world society. We will be meeting a few days just before the meeting in Cancun, Mexico City, making our message heard hours before the beginning of the official summit. And again here, Ricardo Lagos: Ricardo, thank you very much for your work and your Commission’s work.

We have a very clear statement on democracy and, as Larentia Fabiusia said yesterday, this democracy is the minimum for our social justice and socialist movement. And we see the need to strengthen locally, nationality and globally.

We have a resolution which also is linked with security and competitions.

This has been again a very productive Council, with high participation. I’d like to thank you all for your participation in this. I’d like to thank our comrades, the French socialists, for all their very warm hospitality and the organisation, and I wish them well in the upcoming elections. Good luck. We need you. We need you in Europe. And Luis, you and the Secretariat, thank you for all your work.

And let me finally thank the interpreters, who are working overtime. And so thank you for your help and your support.

Thank you again, and a good trip home.
