Letter to Prime Minister of Norway Jens Stoltenberg
PRIME MINISTER
PRESS OFFICE
Athens, 23rd July
Dear Prime Minister,
I was appalled to hear of the bombing attack that hit downtown Oslo and of the massive killing on Utoya island that claimed innocent lives while injuring others. I was deeply shocked when following the description of the murderous attack on so many young people attending your Labour Party’s Youth Camp.
I fully share the feelings of pain of the people of Norway, who suffered this violent blow of terror.
I express my deepest sympathy on behalf of the Greek people and government.
I condemn these acts of outright heinous violence, whatever may be their origins or motivation. Terror and violence are methods and acts our democratic societies, culture and civilization cannot and will not tolerate.
It is at this moment that we call to memory the solidarity you showed us in difficult times for the greek people. The times we in Greece sought refuge in Norway and found compassion in her strong voice for democracy and justice in our country.
Greece remains committed to the longstanding friendship between our two peoples and countries and our common fight against acts of terror. We stand side by side with Norway and its people in these difficult moments.
Once more, please accept, Mr. Prime Minister, my heartfelt condolences for the victims of these attacks and convey to their families my sincere sympathy for their personal losses.
